Robynne Edwards

Assistant Director of Academy of Dance

Instructor of Ballet, Pointe, Character, and Repertoire Classes

Robynne received her primary dance training under Merle Sepel at Academy of Dance, where she was also a founding member of the American Pacific Ballet Company. As a student at AOD Robynne entered and received high marks in both the R.A.D. syllabi and the American Academy of Ballet's Performance Awards. At the age of 16 Robynne was a scholarship recipient to New York City Dance Alliance's National competition.

After graduating from high school, Robynne attended Oklahoma City University where she studied with high caliber choreographers and instructors such as Robert Reed, Lynn Cramer, and Jo Rowan.  While a student at OCU, Robynne studied and performed in many genres of dance, from ballet to hip-hop, jazz, tap, and musical theater.

When Disneyland's California Adventure revived Disney's Electrical Parade in 2001 Robynne was chosen out of hundreds of auditionees and cast as a Cinderella Mouse.  She performed with Disney for several months between her Freshman and Sophomore years of college.  Upon her return to college she was selected to perform one of the lead roles in Jo Rowan's "Prayer."  She graduated in 2004 with a B.A. in History.

Upon her return to California, Robynne returned to AOD where she began teaching full-time.  In 2008 she became Assistant Director of Academy of Dance.

Her proven skill as a contemporary choreographer has led to her being sought out to choreograph contemporary solos for our students throughout the year. Robynne was invited to choreograph a piece for Cal State Fullerton's "Dancing with the Beatles" show in October, 2008, which was well-received by both the faculty and students of CSUF.  In February 2009, she received the Outstanding Choreographer award at the Los Angeles semi-finals of the Youth America Grand Prix and in June 2009 she premiered a new work at the Orange County Choreographer's Showcase. She continues to receive invitations to choreograph works for various Cal State Fullerton dance performances.

In 2013 Robynne became an ABT Certified Teacher in levels Pre-Primary-Level 3.

Robynne's vibrant personality and genuine enthusiasm make her popular with students of all ages.  Her love for ballet and dance of all kinds is evident in the care she takes when teaching her students and encouraging them to not only dance but to make every class a performance.  She looks forward to many more years of teaching and watching the students at AOD blossom into performers and lovers of dance.
